How to use the touch-up paint bottles
For general paint touch-ups, we recommend using spray paint.
Do you have a garage door with a Wood Tones finish?
- To minimize the appearance of a scratch while preserving its original look, refer to our touch-up guide (PDF) for the recommended procedure.
General Instructions for Paint Touch-ups
- Touch-up bottles are fast dry enamel-based paints.
- Before starting, make sure the metal surface is clean and free of grease.
- IMPORTANT: Shake the bottle vigorously for 1 to 2 minutes before using the paint. You should hear the ball inside while you are shaking.
- The temperature of the metal surface to which the paint will be applied must be above 10oC (50o F) and not in direct sunlight.
- Apply one thin and even coat at a time. Multiple coats give better results than one thick coat.
- Close the bottle as quickly as possible. The thinner in the paint is very volatile. Place it in a location that is not too humid, as humidity causes condensation to form in the bottle.
- Every month, turn your bottles over: one month right-side up, one month upside down, so that the paint doesn't congeal in the bottle.
- Do not store your bottles in a place where the temperature can drop below 10oC (50o F). Keep your bottles in a dry and temperature-controlled area.
- Note: Ice White and TEX White (Top Tech) colors are almost identical.
- The colors of touch-up paints always correspond to the original colors of the color samples provided by Garaga. Light and heat may have changed or faded the original color of your door. Run a test before using it (ex.: on the inside of the door).
